I have some exciting news to share for all of you who have been looking for an ASHA outlet for your wonderful scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL) work! Beginning with the 2011 annual ASHA Convention, there will be a new “Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SOTL) in CSD” strand that you can submit proposals to. We are all very excited about this new opportunity and hope that you will consider submitting your SOTL work for presentation at the 2011 Convention.
This year’s Convention also promises to be very exciting. Maryellen Weimer will be presenting the Division 10 Short Course, “Assumptions That Grow Teachers” (Session #SC12) as well as a keynote talk about SOTL (Session #0477). Division 10 affiliates enjoy reduced registration fees for this and other select division-sponsored Short Courses. A complete list of short courses can be found at http://www.asha.org/Events/convention/2010-Short-Courses.htm. Look for our Division 10 Workshop, “Teaching Swap Shop,” (Session #0403), which will offer faculty and clinical educators an opportunity to share past practices and to learn new evidence-based education techniques to try in your own classroom. It is our hope that this swap shop will allow us all to learn about teaching effectively from the best—our colleagues!
