A special “thank you” goes to the members of our community who have devoted their time and talents to strengthening the academy. During the 1990s, we have witnessed an important growth at the national level in partnerships of our professional and academic associations. Our level of commitment to supporting and improving our academic programs has grown significantly because of the excellent leadership of individuals. We owe a particular debt of gratitude to the leadership of Division 10 for making the dream of a faculty support group in the Communication Sciences and Disorders a reality.
Baby Divten is alive and well. Two hundred aunts and uncles is a great start. To ensure that Divten continues to grow and develop, we must all reach out to other faculty in our own programs, and to those programs in our region, and encourage faculty to join us in this new journey. Perhaps we could pay the Division 10 membership dues for 1998 for a new colleague or put copies of membership applications in faculty mailboxes. Please share the newsletter. Spread the word. Our short-term goal should be to have at least two faculty members from every CSD academic program become members of Divten in 1998.
