This article defines pedagogical scholarship and offers a typology for categories of the various kinds of previously published work. It illustrates those categories with examples drawn from a range of disciplines. Current interest in scholarly work on teaching and learning raises two important questions: Is this work credible scholarship? and Is it a viable literature of use and value to college teachers? Both questions are explored in the paper which takes the position that attention to standards and unique characteristics can make this scholarship credible and viable.
