The annual conference of the Council on Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) was held April 24–27, 2002, in Palm Springs, CA. Following are the highlights of the meeting from the perspectives of the authors; the comments do not represent the official proceedings of CAPCSD.
The theme of this year’s CAPCSD Conference, “Focus on Action” is consistent with the current and future needs of communication sciences and disorders. Three key issues were identified:
  • Addressing and Enhancing Diversity in Academic Programs

  • The PhD Shortage in Communication Sciences and Disorders

  • Strategies for Implementing the New Standards in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology
