Students across the country have tapped into another Internet resource related to speech-language pathology: the live chat room. Similar to a classroom discussion, students in the chat room ask the guest speaker questions and also hear about fellow students′ related experiences. Over the past 2 years, students from across the United States, even Canada, have logged onto http://www.speech-languagepathologist.org on Monday nights at 9:00 p.m. EST to join these chats. The guest chat hosts are solicited in response to the expressed interests of the students. These hosts, distinguished professors, lecturers, clinical instructors, textbook authors, and practicing speech-language pathologists, share their expertise by chatting with students in a casual atmosphere for a question and answer session. After only one hour, students have learned material specific to their interests and have had their questions answered by qualified experts. In addition, the students have built a support network with one another.
