November 3, 2001 was a wonderful time for me as I ran (and finished) the New York marathon! Running is part of what I do and who I am when I’m not being a professor. I began my second running career about 8 years ago when I was Chair of the CDS department at Wichita State. I enrolled in a “training to run” class at a local health club, where we began with a “run one block, walk one block” regime. At the end of the class, some newfound friends and I entered a local 5-K women’s race. We felt so successful at the finish line that we continued to meet to run together, and it grew from there.
