The following resources are listed for faculty in CSD programs for use in teaching and learning about cultural competence. While this list is by no means exhaustive, these Web-based resources may add tools for training programs and individual faculty to expand the focus on diversity in speech-language pathology and audiology.
The mission of the National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC), located at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, “is to increase the capacity of health and mental health programs to design, implement, and evaluate culturally and linguistically competent service delivery systems.”
While policy guides are designed for health systems, several tools have relevance for CSD training programs, particularly the Cultural and Linguistic Competence Policy Assessment (CLCPA) and A Guide for Advancing Family-Centered and Culturally and Linguistically Competent Care, both down-loadable in pdf format. Links are found on the main Web site for NCCC at http://www11.georgetown.edu/research/gucchd/nccc/.
